Workshop Highlights:
- Mastering Composition & Storytelling
Learn the essential principles of composition tailored for street photography. We will cover how to use leading lines, rule of thirds, symmetry, and negative space to direct attention to your subject and create a narrative in every frame. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to compose images that not only look visually striking but also tell powerful stories.
- Spotting and Capturing Everyday Moments
Street photography is about finding beauty in the mundane. You'll learn how to quickly identify compelling subjects in the hustle and bustle of the streets and how to anticipate action before it happens. We’ll explore how to use perspective, angles, and timing to bring life and motion into your stills.
- The Emotional Impact of Monochrome
Understand how monochrome photography can bring out deeper emotional connections through contrast, tone, and texture. You will learn to visualize your scenes in black and white even before taking the shot, focusing on form, structure, and mood. This will enhance your ability to convey emotions through your images—whether it’s drama, serenity, or intensity.
- Mastering Exposure & Metering for Monochrome
Learn advanced techniques to control exposure using your Leica M rangefinder. You’ll get hands-on experience adjusting ISO, aperture, and shutter speed to capture the perfect balance between light and shadow. Mastering the zone system will help you understand how to expose for highlights without losing detail in the shadows—crucial for creating dynamic black-and-white photos.
- Fine-Tuning Focus with Zone Focusing & Hyperfocal Distance
Street photography often happens fast, and manual focusing is key. You’ll learn how to use zone focusing and hyperfocal distance techniques to ensure sharp focus on your subjects without missing the moment. This skill will allow you to shoot quickly and accurately, giving you the confidence to capture fleeting moments in their purest form.
- Understanding Contrast & Tonal Range
Black-and-white photography relies heavily on the use of contrast. You’ll learn how to create rich, dynamic images by manipulating tonal ranges—from deep blacks to soft grays. We will explore how to use light effectively to enhance contrast, giving your images depth and dimension. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a keen eye for tonal balance, allowing you to craft images that are visually arresting.
- Post-Processing for Monochrome Mastery
Once you've captured your shots, we’ll dive into post-processing techniques specific to monochrome photography. Learn how to enhance contrast, sharpen details, and apply subtle tonal adjustments to highlight the mood and story of your images. By mastering these techniques, you’ll turn good photos into exceptional ones, ready for portfolio or exhibition.
