7:00 AM – 7:30 AM
-Meet at the designated gathering point (KTM Komuter Batu Caves)
-Brief introduction of the photowalk and agenda
-Safety tips and etiquette for photographing during Thaipusam.
7:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Preparation of Devotees
-Capture devotees preparing for their vows, including moments of prayer, offerings, and family interactions.
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Cleansing Rituals at Sungai Batu (River at Batu Caves)
-Document traditional cleansing rituals as devotees purify themselves in preparation for Thaipusam.
-Focus on candid moments and the symbolism of water in these rituals.
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Shaving Heads and Kavadi Preparations
-Photograph devotees shaving their heads as an act of devotion and penance.
-Capture the intricate details of kavadi decorations and the devotion in preparation for carrying them.
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Main Rituals at Batu Caves Temple*
-Capture key rituals inside the temple, including offerings, prayers, and interactions among devotees.
-Highlight spiritual moments and architectural details.
12:30 PM – 2:00 PM: Arrival of the Silver Chariot***
-Document the arrival of the Silver Chariot at Batu Caves, focusing on the vibrant atmosphere and devotion of participants.
-Capture the cultural significance and the conclusion of the chariot’s journey.

Please note that the timing and agenda are subject to change due to the dynamic and chaotic nature of the event. We will strive to cover all activities as planned, but adjustments may be made based on the flow of the festival.
Proper Attire:
*Participants are advised to wear modest clothing, such as long pants and shirts with sleeves, out of respect for the cultural and religious significance of the event. Proper attire is also required to enter the temple.
Embark on your Leica journey with Yuji Haikal, a self-taught photographer from Johor, Malaysia, celebrated for his evocative street photography that captures unseen stories and fleeting moments. Influenced by iconic photographer Jim Marshall, Yuji’s work reflects a deep connection to cultural and human narratives. His dedication to the art of photography earned him international recognition, including the prestigious Non-Professional Book Photographer of the Year award at the International Photography Awards (IPA) 2024 for his self-published photobook, "Why Aren’t You Taking Photos Anymore?".
Things to note:
- All cameras are welcome. There will be a limited selection of Leica cameras and lenses available for attendees.
- Minimum 4 pax to commence photo outing. In the event the class is cancelled, you will be refunded accordingly.
- Maximum of 10 participants.
- No cancellation or refund upon sign-up.
