EVERYDAY ORDINARY OF JAPANESE SALARYMEN
Leica Ambassador KC Eng (@kc.eng) captures the everyday of the Japanese salarymen as they commute home - seemingly disconnected in an interconnected world. But is it really? Follow through his visual journey, shot with the SL camera and M lens.
Homebound - Just Not Connected to You
When dusk falls, it beckons the homebound journey for some people while it is just the start of the day for some. The subways are thronged with people and it is not often that you can get a seat. And when they do, the phone is a huge reprieve from their daily drudgery as they connect with their loved ones. Physical boundaries to the outside world has since been removed with the advent of technology.
Lights. Lamps that illuminate the streets of Japan in the deep of the night casting shadows and unveiling silhouettes that bear the toils of the day.
At the end of the day, we just want to feel connected to our loved ones after a long day at work, despite the distance.
The SL system is like an extension of the photographer.
"The SL with Leica M lenses has a small and lightweight form factor, that I can carry all day. The EVF of the SL system is clear and accurate, which enables easy and precise focusing when using Leica M lenses. With the electronic shutter and the image stabilization, I now can shoot at extreme shutter speeds." - KC Eng.
