Join award-winning street photographer Jonathan Jasberg for an immersive evening photowalk in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Set against the vibrant energy of Bukit Bintang, this session will focus on Jonathan’s signature approach — layering. Participants will learn how to build depth into their images by combining foreground, midground, and background elements, while also exploring how light, movement, and timing shape compelling street photographs.

This is a hands-on experience designed to sharpen your eye and train you to see stories within the chaos of the streets. Whether you’re new to street photography or looking to refine your craft, this walk will help you discover fresh ways of seeing.

Photowalk Agenda

4:00 – 4:15 PM: Welcome, introduction & safety briefing

4:15 – 4:30 PM: Jonathan shares key layering concepts to keep in mind during the walk

4:30 – 6:30 PM: Guided photowalk around Bukit Bintang

Exploring vibrant streets and intersections
Practical tips from Jonathan along the way
Individual guidance and feedback while shooting

6:30 – 7:00 PM: Wrap-up & group sharing session

All cameras are welcome. There will be a limited selection of Leica cameras and lenses available for attendees.
Minimum 4 pax to commence photo outing. In the event the class is cancelled, you will be refunded accordingly.

About the Instructor

Jonathan Jasberg is a multi-award-winning American street and documentary photographer who has lived a nomadic life since 2010, traveling full-time in pursuit of compelling stories and cultures. Working independently, he seeks out destinations that intrigue him both visually and culturally, immersing himself for long periods of time to capture layered narratives of human life. Alongside his personal work, he leads intensive street photography workshops around the world, offering students immersive, on-the-ground learning experiences in the art of observation and timing.

Jasberg has been the subject of major feature stories in leading international magazines including National Geographic Traveler, GEO, and Leica Fotografie International (LFI). His work has also been exhibited worldwide in both solo and group exhibitions. He is the recipient of over 40 international awards, including Author of the Year at the 2022 Urban Photo Awards in Trieste, Italy; 1st Place Best Photo of 2022 at the Exibart Contest (judged by Steve McCurry); 1st Place Series at the 2023 Tehran Street Photography Festival (judged by Nikos Economopoulos); and 1st Place Image at the 2023 LensCulture Street Photography Awards (judged by Sadie Quarrier of National Geographic). His projects have also earned top prizes at the Paris International Street Photo Awards, Istanbul Street Photography Festival, Life Framer, Eyeshot, and more.

Exclusively photographing with Leica cameras, Jasberg’s practice reflects a philosophy of slowing down, looking closer, and finding poetry in the streets. His images are an exploration of culture, coexistence, and the fleeting connections that define human life in cities across the globe.
