See What Others Miss
A guided Leica photowalk with Dutch-Vietnamese artist Hiep Nguyen and editorial photographer Dinie.

Join them as they share their unique vision, approach, and street photography techniques using the Leica system.

This is a slow walk through the everyday — learning to observe, blend in, and capture moments that often go unnoticed.

Mini Photo Contest:
Submit your best photo from the walk — the winning image will be featured by Leica Akademie.

Whether you’re just starting out or have years behind the lens, this session is open to all.

What To Expect:

• A relaxed, guided walk with Hiep & Dinie, as they share how they observe and photograph everyday life.
• Real-world tips on light, timing, composition, and street intuition.
• A slower pace that encourages seeing with intention, not just snapping.
• A small, focused group setting — perfect for casual learning, conversations, and sharing perspectives.
• Both Hiep and Dinie shoot on film and digital — if you're bringing a film camera, feel free to ask for simple tips on reading light, shooting mindfully, and working within film's natural rhythm.
• A chance to reflect on your own process, build confidence, and enjoy the act of walking with a camera —with no pressure to create “perfect” photos.

4:30 – 5:00 PM: REXKL at Petaling Street

• Meet in front of RexKL – open space, easy for group to gather.
• Early arrivals can grab some coffee, chill, and connect.
• Introduction by Dinie, Hiep & Leica Akademie team at 5:00 PM.
• Split into two groups (if 8–10 pax) for guided sessions with Dinie or Hiep.

5:00 – 6:00 PM: Chinatown (Petaling Street)

• Start at Petaling Street Market – dynamic vendors, neon signs, and golden-hour light.
• Explore side alleys with murals, traditional shops, and candid evening moments.
• Focus on blending in, observing, and capturing the essence of everyday life.

6:00 – 6:30 PM: Walk to Dataran Merdeka via Central Market & River of Life

• Instead of heading to Pudu, we take a scenic walk toward Dataran Merdeka.
• Pass Central Market and River of Life – ideal stops for frames of reflections, architecture, and city movement.
• Group switches: Dinie ↔ Hiep to get both perspectives.
• Quick check-in with instructors on what to improve or focus on.

6:30 – 7:30 PM: Dataran Merdeka

• Capture contrast of KL’s colonial past with the modern skyline.
• Play with wide compositions, symmetry, street interaction, and dusk tones.
• Ideal timing for street silhouettes and city lights coming to life.

7:30 - 8 PM: Casual Review Session @ Subway (Near Bar Council)

• Gather at Subway Sandwich spot for light bites and conversation.
• Review your favorite photos, exchange thoughts with Hiep & Dinie.
• Details on Mini Photo Contest will be shared — best photo will get online feature.

Things to note:

• All cameras are welcome. There will be a limited selection of Leica cameras and lenses available for attendees. 
• Minimum 4 pax to commence photo outing. In the event the class is cancelled, you will be refunded accordingly.
• Maximum of 10 participants.
• No cancellation or refund upon sign-up.
